As ever with Adel Abdessemed, the exhibition title 'Jalousies', plays with words, cultures, ethics and morality. It is no accident for Abdessemed to have chosen this title for his exhibition at the Musée de Vence (straight after a show by the American photographer Andres Serrano), housed in an old Villeneuve château which had largely become a "sleeping beauty" for the best part of a decade. It was opened to the public in 2015 with the simple act of having opened its shutters/jalousies, of having put light filters in the windows, giving life once more to a magnificent house which had gradually closed in on itself.
